Video: Kurt Busch Channeling Inner Ricky Bobby Heading into Talladega Weekend

Talladega Superspeedway is an iconic race venue. It’s the fastest track in NASCAR Cup Series history, it’s been host to some of the wildest and closest finishes in the history of the sport and of course it has been loaded with some of the craziest crashes we have ever seen.

The speedway was also a huge portion of the focus in the 2006 film Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, starring Will Ferrell as the titular character.

On Friday, GearWrench shared a video to their Twitter account of Kurt Busch, who is coming off a win last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and will be driving the No. 1 GearWrench Chevrolet Camaro this weekend.

The video is essentially a highlight reel of quotes from the comedy flick.

Let’s be honest here, Kurt Busch and Matt McCall kind of nailed their performances at Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr. I’m super impressed. And kudos to GearWrench for even letting the expletives fly in the video.

But back to the task at hand, there is a race on Sunday, which Busch already has nothing to lose going into as last week’s win locked him into the Round of 8 in the Playoffs. Now, Busch seems to be coming into Talladega with a, “If you’re not first, you’re last mindset.” Maybe we’ll get a wild finish where two drivers sprint across the finish line on foot to settle the winner of the race?
