Much like teammate Brandon Jones, Harrison Burton has crashed hard on the back straightaway in the Pocono Green 225, the second leg of Sunday’s Pocono Raceway triple header. Burton was running inside the top-ten when his No. 20 Toyota Supra broke loose exiting turn one, sliding to the inside wall and slamming it in the same opening that Jones hit on lap one of the event.

Over the radios, drivers and teams have been speculating that these accidents may be in large part due to oil on the racing surface from Brandon Brown’s No. 68, who experienced an engine issue in the early portion of the event, sending him to the garage for the remainder of the race.

Burton’s season started out hot, finishing inside the top-ten in each of the first ten races, including two victories at California and Homestead-Miami Speedway, but his last two starts have both resulted in DNF’s due to big crashes, first at Talladega last weekend and then this weekend at Pocono.

Burton would be unable to continue, resulting in a 32nd-place finish for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver, only finishing above B. Jones, Williams, Graf and Brown, who have all had issues in the early portion of the race.
