Man, Chase Elliott can’t catch a good break.
After blowing a motor earlier in the weekend, Elliott had to start from the rear of the field. That was no problem for the sport’s most popular driver as he knifed his way to eighth by the end of Stage 1 in Sunday’s First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
However, under a caution early in Stage 2, Elliott’s car suffered either a broken axle or rear end gear as he exited pit road. The No. 9 has gone behind the wall for repairs.
