The sky is blue, water is wet and Tyler Reddick will be driving Richard Childress Racing’s No. 8 car in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020.

It’s not earth-shattering news as it was basically a foregone conclusion that Reddick would move into the seat once it was announced that Daniel Hemric would be released a couple of weeks ago.

However, the team made the announcement official with a Tweet on Wednesday.

The Tweet states that sponsorship will continue to be Caterpillar on the No. 8 car, but it did not mention if any of the other partners on the No. 8 car in 2019 would be returning.

“It means a lot to me that Richard, his team, and Caterpillar believe in my ability to represent them both on and off the racetrack,” Reddick said in a team press release. “My goal was always to get to race on Sundays, and I’m so excited to achieve that next year with RCR, ECR and Caterpillar. I’m excited to take this next step in my career with their support, but also realize I’ve still got a lot of work to do this year with my No. 2 team to bring home the Xfinity Series Championship. I can’t think of a better way to end RCR’s 50th celebration and kick off next year than by capturing that trophy.”

Reddick won the 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship driving for JR Motorsports.

In the off-season, he moved to Richard Childress Racing’s No. 2 Xfinity Series ride. Reddick has exploded in 2019 to the tune of five victories and he has finished inside the top-10 24 times in 28 starts this season.
