Video: Jack Wood’s Day Ends Early After Stage Two Crash at Atlanta

What started as a very promising day for McAnally Hilgemann Racing partially unraveled after an incident involving its no. 91 entry of Jack Wood. While exiting turn four, Wood moved up the track and made contact with the no. 32 Chevrolet of Bret Holmes.

Both trucks made contact with the outside wall, with Holmes keeping his truck straight and Wood spinning into the frontstretch grass to bring out the caution on the final lap of stage two.

The damage sustained to the no. 91 Chevrolet was too severe for Wood to drive back to pit road and he was forced to exit his truck and retire from the race, the second week in a row that Wood has not finished despite running inside the top 10 during the event.

Despite the strong start to the race for MHR, Wood was the second truck from the team’s four truck stable to suffer a premature end to the race in the stage.

Christian Eckes, who qualified inside the top five in his no. 19 Chevrolet, had a major brake issue that forced him into the garage and eventually out of the event after missing his pit stall attempting to fix the issue at the end of stage one, which he had just won.
