Sheldon Creed took the checkered flag in Sunday’s NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series CarShield 200 at World Wide Technology Raceway in Gateway. In doing so, Creed brings his total earnings from the Triple Truck Challenge to $150,000 as he won two of the three events in the special bonus from Gander Outdoors.
While Creed took his third win of the season on Sunday, it came in controversial fashion as he crashed the dominant truck of the day, Todd Gilliland, for the lead with 39 laps left.

Following the win, Creed apologized to Gilliland in his post-race interview.
“I want to start with apologizing to the [No.] 38, it’s so hard to pass here,” Creed said. “I got the opportunity to get to the inside and just was really loose getting in. He was pretty close to my door. They were having such a good day, me and Todd are buddies, I hate to do that to him. They’re a strong team, so, he owes me one.”
Gilliland, who led 76 laps on the day and won Stages 1 and 2, finished a disappointing 22nd.
“I think he knows what happened,” Gilliland said. “I think I know what happened. He just drove in there over his head and got us. That’s racing. God, I just hate it. My guys work day and night for me.”
Brett Moffit, Creed’s GMS Racing teammate, finished second on Sunday. Moffit still hasn’t won yet in 2020, but he has had some extremely strong results as of late.
Austin Hill finished third ahead of 17-year old Sam Mayer. Mayer, who was making his fifth-career start, looked to possibly have a shot at the win. He led 14 laps on the day, but was passed by Creed for the lead on lap 147 when he just didn’t get going on a restart in his No. 24 truck.
Stewart Friesen finished fifth.
Raphael Lessard, Zane Smith, Grant Enfinger, Ty Majeski and Tanner Gray rounded out the top-10 finishers on the day.
Late in the race, Austin Wayne Self and Carson Hocevar had an incident, which sent Self into the wall. When the race resumed, Self attempted to head-hunt Hocevar on the track, but was unsuccessful.
