Mother Nature Hands Kansas Truck Pole to Nick Sanchez, No. 77 Spire Team

Nick Sanchez, who is making a spot start for Spire Motorsports this weekend at Kansas Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 77 Chevrolet, encountered some good luck on Friday afternoon.

Persistent rain, which already wiped out ARCA Menards Series practice and qualifying earlier in the day, officially led to the cancellation of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series practice and qualifying. With his No. 77 Spire Motorsports team having the best performance metric formula total this week, Sanchez will make the start from the pole position in Saturday’s Race to Stop Suicide 200.

While it won’t go in the statistical book as an official pole position, Sanchez will begin the event with the most enviable position on the starting grid as he attempts to collect his third career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory.

Jake Garcia, who scored his first career win last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, will line up alongside Sanchez on the front row at the start of Saturday’s race at Kansas Speedway.

Gio Ruggiero, who landed with the third position on the starting grid, will be the highest-starting Chase contender in the field.

Kaden Honeycutt, the runner-up driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings, will start from the fourth position on Saturday afternoon.

Brent Crews, a full-time NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, will start fifth.
