Spire Motorsports has tapped NASCAR Cup Series competitors Kyle Larson and William Byron to run a combined three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events in the No. 07 Chevrolet Silverado, the team confirmed Tuesday.
Larson, the 2021 champion of the NASCAR Cup Series, will compete in events at Homestead-Miami Speedway (March 21) and Bristol Motor Speedway (April 11), while Byron, a 14-time NASCAR Cup Series winner, will drive the No. 07 at Martinsville Speedway (March 28).
HendrickCars.com, the personal brand of Hendrick Motorsports team owner Rick Hendrick, will serve as the primary sponsor for the three-race effort. Alongside the No. 07, the company will also be backing the No. 7 (Corey Day) and No. 71 (Rajah Caruth) in those three events.
“One of the coolest things of having a CRAFTSMAN Truck Series team is to have the crossover from Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick Automotive Group,” said Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson. “We’ve had all their drivers in our trucks from time to time, and to have two guys in William (Byron) and Kyle (Larson), who have won races with us back in the seat, certainly gives the team a little more pep in our step. It also raises the bar for those races to win or bust. You don’t show up with those guys to do anything else but win.”
Both drivers have secured wins in the NASCAR Truck Series for Spire Motorsports over the last three years, with Larson winning at North Wilkesboro in 2023 and Byron winning at Martinsville in 2022.
Larson will look to complete a pair of weekend sweeps at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway, as he’ll run the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events.
The only driver ever successful in completing a clean sweep of a tripleheader weekend is Kyle Busch, who accomplished that feat in 2010 and 2017 at Bristol Motor Speedway. HendrickCars.com will be sponsoring all three of Larson’s racecars on both weekends.
“I love racing at Homestead-Miami (Speedway) and Bristol (Motor Speedway), so I’m excited to add those Truck races to my schedule,” said Larson. “Hopefully, we can put on a great show with HendrickCars.com on board and battle for the victories in the Spire truck.”
Of the 26 NASCAR National Series victories in the record books for William Byron, eight of them have come in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The Charlotte, North Carolina-native won a series-high seven events as a rookie in 2016, before returning to the series for a one-off appearance in 2022, where he captured the win for Spire Motorsports.
“I’m excited to get back to the Truck Series,” said Byron. “It’s been a couple years for me so I’m ready to try it again. Plus, the last time I ran a truck at Martinsville we won. Hopefully, we can do that again because it really paid off for us on the Cup side of things. Spire is a great group, and I’m excited to work with them again.”
The Baptist Health 200 from Homestead-Miami Speedway will be televised live on FOX Friday, March 21 beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The fourth of 25 races on the 2025 CRAFTSMAN Truck Series schedule will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
