On Wednesday, NASCAR officially revealed the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule, one that features a number of overhauls and re-arrangements in the calendar for the series’ 27th season.

Daytona International Speedway will again host the season-opener for the NASCAR Truck Series on February 18, 2022, marking the beginning of an action-packed 23-race schedule. The 16-race regular season will conclude at Pocono Raceway on July 23, with the series hosting elimination events at Kansas Speedway (September 9) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (October 22).

Two road courses, one intermediate track, and one short track were added – or re-added — to the series’ calendar in 2022, including the re-introduction of Homestead-Miami Speedway after this season’s race was axed due to COVID-19 schedule realignments. The 1.5-mile facility will host the penultimate race of the year and will serve as the final shot for drivers to advance to championship four.

It’s been over a decade since the NCWTS contested an event at Sonoma Raceway, but in 2022, they’ll accompany the NASCAR Cup Series and ARCA Menards Series West for a tripleheader weekend in wine country. The series’ last event at Sonoma, 23 years ago, was won by Boris Said, who has recently returned to the NASCAR Xfinity Series for a part-time slate. Could Boris Said return to try and defend his title?

Similarly, it’s been a decade since any of NASCAR’s top-three series raced at Lucas Oil Raceway, but next season, not only will the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series return to the .686-mile facility, but it will serve as the playoff opener, as the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series compete down the road at IMS.

The last major twist in the 2022 schedule, is the series’ visit to Lexington, Ohio on July 9, for the first-ever NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The move takes place after the NASCAR Xfinity Series was announced to be heading to the Pacific Northwest, to compete at Portland International Raceway in June, leaving Mid-Ohio’s date to transfer to the NCWTS.

Significant NCWTS Schedule Changes:

  • Circuit of The Americas moves its tripleheader weekend from May to March, with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competing on Saturday, March 26th.
  • Martinsville Speedway continues to only have one NCWTS event each season but has swapped race weekends, with the series competing at the half-mile paperclip on Thursday, April 7th.
  • Bristol Motor Speedway will throw some dirt on its concrete surface again in 2022 but will adjust its date to Easter Weekend (April 16).
  • Texas Motor Speedway‘s All-Star weekend moves back to its usual spot in May, which includes a point-paying race for the NCWTS on Friday, May 20.
  • World Wide Technology Raceway moves all of its NASCAR-related racing to one weekend, with the NCWTS event moving from August to Saturday, June 4.
  • Sonoma Raceway will host its first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event since 1998, accompanying the NASCAR Cup Series and ARCA Menards Series West for a tripleheader in wine country.
  • Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will host its first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event on July 9th, after the NASCAR Xfinity Series shuffled out the road course in favor of Portland International Raceway.
  • Pocono Raceway moves its NASCAR activities to late July, after losing a NASCAR Cup Series date for 2022. The track will host the regular-season finale for the NCWTS on Saturday, July 23.
  • Lucas Oil Raceway (IRP) will return to a NASCAR National Series schedule for the first time since 2011, opening the playoffs for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Friday, July 29th.
  • Richmond Raceway adjusts its racing schedule to host the NASCAR Truck Series playoff event on Saturday, August 13, after losing a spot in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs for 2022.
  • Kansas Speedway picks up a second date for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2022 after Las Vegas Motor Speedway says it was unable to acquire a TV window for the series during its second race weekend.
  • Homestead-Miami Speedway returns to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule after being lost in the COVID-19 realignment. The facility will host the penultimate event of the 2022 NCWTS season.
