Travis Pastrana is making a return to NASCAR? Well, yeah, I didn’t expect to be writing that news, but here we are.

On Thursday, Pastrana, 36, revealed in an Instagram video that he is set to run the second leg of the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series double header on Saturday at Kansas Speedway, so long as Ross Chastain brings the No. 40 Niece Motorsports truck home in one piece.

Pastrana says that the opportunity came by way of a random cold call from his former car chief Cody Efaw, who is the team manager for Niece Motorsports.

The action-sports star last competed in NASCAR with a one-off NASCAR Truck Series appearance in 2017 with Niece Motorsports. Pastrana’s best finish in three previous Truck Series starts is a 15th-place effort, and he has four top-10 finishes in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition in 42 starts.

For those who aren’t familiar, Pastrana gained fame on two wheels. He was the 2000 and 2001 AMA Supercross 125cc champion. Pastrana has also collected 17 medals in the XGames (11 gold, four silver and two bronze) in Motox competition and Rally Car.
