After a rough 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, which saw Ryan Preece struggle through the most frustrating of stretches through the first 26 races of the season, only to come on decently strong over the final 10 races, the Connecticut-native will return to JTG Daugherty Racing for the 2021 season. Preece made the news official on Wednesday in an interview on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Preece said. “They always used to talk about sophomore slumps, and I think I lived up to that sophomore slump. That was pretty terrible. Moving forward, definitely excited to be back and continuing on.”

Over the first 26 races of the 2020 season, Preece and the No. 37 team recorded eight DNFs and they had no top-10 finishes on the stat sheet. Over the final 10 races of the season though, they totally flipped the script.

The 30-year old driver reeled off two top-10 finishes, three top-15s and eight top-20 finishes. More importantly, the No. 37 car finished all of the final 10 races intact.

The No. 37 team will attempt to take a step forward in 2021 and build off of the momentum that they had in the final stretch of the 2020 season.
