JD Motorsports cleared up a bit more of their muddy driver lineup on Tuesday, as they announced that Robby Lyons will drive for the organization in the first three events of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

According to a team press release, Lyons will open the season with the team in a, “driver development co-effort with Premium Motorsports.”

“I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to kick of the 2020 season driving for JD Motorsports,” Lyons said. “Obviously, I’ve been following the team for a long time and have a huge amount of respect and appreciation for what they’ve done for guys like Ross and Garrett, who I’m proud to call friends and mentors. Seeing how driving for Johnny prepared them for success as drivers and in so many other ways is really exciting for me. I can’t wait to capitalize on the 3 races we have planned and build on that momentum heading forward.”

In the release, the team states that the number and crew chief for the 31-year old driver will be announced at a later date, but following the release, Lyons took to Twitter to show off his new car for 2020.

Lyons will drive the No. 15:

Lyons has made one previous NASCAR Xfinity Series start, which resulted in a 28th-place finish in the No. 17 Rick Ware/Mike Harmon entry last season.

Additionally, Lyons has run 12 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races, with a best finish of 12th coming at Phoenix in 2017.
