The rumor all season long has been that the three-car Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Ford team Front Row Motorsports was working on becoming a technical ally with Stewart-Haas Racing for the 2020 season. When David Ragan announced his retirement from full-time racing a week ago, it appeared that this would give SHR’s development driver and Xfinity Series competitor Cole Custer an avenue to go full-time Cup Series racing next season.

However, a new report from Sports Business Journal suggests that if there were talks between Front Row and SHR, they may have either stalled, or been broken off all together.

According to the latest report, SHR has now been in close contact with Go Fas Racing, who field the No. 32 car, for a technical alliance.

In the report, Stern says that the No. 32 could be the potential landing spot for Custer for next season, and if so that could send Corey LaJoie — Go Fas’ current driver — to Front Row Motorsports.

If Custer takes the No. 32, and LaJoie takes the now vacant No. 38, where will this leave NASCAR’s newest feel-good story Matt DiBenedetto?

Silly season is in full swing folks.
