Chase Elliott won the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series championship, but he’s not going to sit on his hands in the offseason. The 24-year old driver will enter the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway, a prestigious Super Late Model race that he’s won twice before and he’s also expected to run the Rolex 24 at Daytona. But on Tuesday, Jeff Gluck of The Athletic revealed that Elliott will make his debut in the famed Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma as well.

According to the report from The Athletic, the opportunity for Elliott comes through a friendship with Chase Briscoe. Briscoe, who had previously run the race with DiaEdge as a sponsor, now has a sponsorship conflict which won’t allow him to run for the company. When asked who they should sponsor instead, Briscoe led the company to Elliott.

This will mark Elliott’s first ever attempt at racing in the prestigious indoor midget race.

Elliott also tweeted out a render of what his No. 9 DiaEdge dirt midget will look like in the event:

The 2021 Chili Bowl Nationals take place from January 11th to January 16th. Hundreds of entries will be paired down through heat races until one final feature field is set.
