Video: Justin Allgaier Turns Ty Gibbs in Battle for Fourth with 53 Laps to Go

Justin Allgaier probably won’t be receiving a Christmas card from Ty Gibbs after the two drivers tangled with 53 laps remaining in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville Superspeedway.

While battling for the fourth position, Allgaier, aggressively crowded to the inside of Gibbs, and lost the nose of his car in the battle. As Allgaier’s No. 7 Chevrolet washed up into the left rear quarterpanel of Gibbs’ No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota GR Supra, Gibbs went for a spin.

Allgaier did a great job avoiding additional contact with Gibbs, and both drivers were able to drive away without any further incident to their cars. Chandler Smith, Gibbs’ teammate, collided with the outside wall as he attempted to miss the crash.

For Allgaier, the caution afforded him and his team the opportunity to swap out the dying battery in his No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro.

Gibbs, who started from the pole, will now attempt to work his way back from the 27th position after the spin.
