Video: Flat Tire on No. 7 Takes Out Most of the Lead Pack Late at Atlanta

Several contenders have been knocked out of Saturday’s Focused Health 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway after a flat right-front tire for Justin Allgaier caused a multi-car accident in Turn 3.

The accident started down the backstretch when slight contact between defending NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Cole Custer and Justin Allgaier cut the right-front tire of the No. 7 Hellmann’s Chevrolet.

Allgaier, positioned on the inside lane, was unable to make the corner and went up the racetrack into the side of Cole Custer, taking out several people behind.

Taylor Gray, Ryan Sieg, Riley Herbst, and Jesse Love all sustained significant damage in the accident, as there was nowhere to go in the tight confines of the corner at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Sieg and Custer will be out of Saturday’s Xfinity Series event, while several others have had their afternoons impacted. The No. 39 entered the afternoon below the cutline, and a poor finish will hurt his chances of making the Playoffs.

“I’m not even sure [what happened],” said Sieg. “I just saw the No. 98 run me sideways. I tried to check up, but that’s just part of racing on speedways.”
