Alpha Prime Racing will have a new face behind the wheel of its No. 45 Chevrolet Camaro this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway as Mason Maggio, a native of Palm Beach Garden, Florida, will get into the driver’s seat.

Maggio will have primary sponsorship in the event in the form of Sparks Boat Works as well as F2 Ocean Coatings. The 20-year-old racer will have a light blue, white, and black paint scheme adorning his No. 45 Chevrolet Camaro in Saturday’s race.

Prior to this weekend’s event at Homestead, Maggio has just one NASCAR Xfinity Series start this year, which came at Atlanta Motor Speedway in September. In that event, Maggio started 27th, and came home 18th in the No. 35 Joey Gase Motorsports entry.

That 18th-place run at Atlanta was Maggio’s career-best finish in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition through his first six starts in the series.

The young racer has been very active in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ranks this season as he has amassed 11 starts, the most of his career, in 2024. Maggio has run a total of seven races for the upstart No. 21 Floridian Motorsports team and an additional four races for the No. 22 Reaume Brothers Racing outfit.

Ironically, Maggio’s best NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series finish is also 18th this season, a result he achieved in the October 4 event at Talladega Superspeedway.

The start with Alpha Prime Racing on Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway will possibly be the most potent equipment Maggio has had a chance to run in the NASCAR National Series ranks to date.
