Justin Allgaier will lead the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to green for the second time this season, scoring his ninth career pole position ahead of Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway.

Allgaier, driving the No. 7 BRANDT Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports, posted a lap of 30.646 seconds (176.206mph) in Saturday’s time trials to score his second pole of the season. It’s the first time since 2010 that Allgaier has been a multi-time pole winner in the series.

Starting alongside the tenured veteran of the Xfinity Series will be Sammy Smith, whose lap clocked in at 30.796 seconds (175.347mph). Smith, driving the No. 18 Toyota GR Supra, has already secured his spot into the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs.

Cole Custer posted the third-quickest time in the single-vehicle qualifying session, and will start alongside Brandon Jones, who is not only a two-time winner at Kansas Speedway, but also sits in a must-win situation entering the regular-season finale.

Daniel Hemric, in his first race driving the No. 10 Chevrolet, rounded out the top-five for Kaulig Racing. Josh Berry, John Hunter Nemechek, Riley Herbst, Austin Hill, and Brett Moffitt completed the top-10.

Herbst, who will start eighth, currently holds a one-point advantage over Parker Kligerman when it comes to advancing into the post-season. Kligerman, driving for Big Machine Racing, will start in 15th.

Other notable drivers starting outside the top-10 include Chandler Smith in 12th, Sam Mayer in 13th, Sheldon Creed in 16th, and Jeb Burton in 17th.

Leland Honeyman, making another start in an Alpha Prime Racing entry this weekend at Kansas, failed to qualify for Saturday’s 300-mile contest, while driving the No. 44 Chevrolet.
