Danny Efland, who competed in 63 NASCAR Xfinity Series races as a driver from 2007 to 2013, will serve as a crew chief in the series in 2025. Efland will officially join AM Racing as the crew chief for Harrison Burton and the No. 15 team.

Efland, who currently serves as the lead engineer for Erik Jones and the No. 43 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB team in the NASCAR Cup Series, will make his debut as the crew chief for AM Racing in the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway next season.

“I am excited about this next chapter in my racing career to join AM Racing and Harrison Burton to fight for an Xfinity Series championship in 2025,” said Efland in a team press release. “I have worked hard for this opportunity, and I believe in the vision of AM Racing, as well as Harrison’s capabilities, I know that they have what it takes to contend for race wins and ultimately a championship.”

Burton, who captured the 100th NASCAR Cup Series win all-time for the Wood Brothers Racing team at Daytona International Speedway in August, is excited to be paired with Efland next season.

“I am looking forward to working with Danny next season,” Burton explained. With his credentials as a successful engineer and experience as a race car driver, it should benefit our realistic goals of contending for race wins and chasing an Xfinity Series championship.”

AM Racing announced Burton as the new driver of its No. 15 NASCAR Xfinity Series machine for the 2025 season on September 20.

After years of trying to make it as a race car driver, Efland made the change to become an engineer in the NASCAR Ranks, and after stops at Richard Childress Racing, Richard Petty Motorsports and LMC, he’ll finally get a chance to show what he can do as a crew chief for AM Racing.
