Carson Kvapil, a standout from the CARS Tour ranks, will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Martinsville Speedway on April 6 as he’ll drive the No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports.
Additional details for the entry will be announced in the coming weeks, per the race team.
The 20-year-old racer made his debut in the NASCAR National Series with a one-off NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start for Spire Motorsports at Bristol Motor Speedway last fall. In his truck series debut, Kvapil started 27th and finished an impressive 12th.
Kvapil also made his ARCA Menards Series debut at Kansas Speedway last season in a race which he started third and finished second in. Kvapil is excited to see what he can do in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and he’s proud to be debuting at the same track where his father Travis Kvapil made his NASCAR Cup Series debut at.
“I’m really looking forward to making my NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Martinsville,” said Kvapil in a press release from JR Motorsports. “My dad made his NASCAR Cup Series debut there back in 2004, so it’s cool to make my first Xfinity start at the same track. I’ve run there in the Late Models for JR Motorsports and done well, and hopefully, I’ll be able to use that experience to hit the ground running again with JRM in April.”
Kvapil has scored back-to-back zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car championships. The racer has piled on nine wins, 27 top-five finishes, and he’s led nearly 1,000 laps in 34 races in the CARS Tour ranks.
Kvapil’s advancement, along with the advancement of Josh Berry, William Byron, and Sam Mayer cements the JR Motorsports Late Model program as a legendary developmental vessel for blossoming talent in the sport.
