NASCAR will not be penalizing Erik Jones or the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team following Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

In the closing laps, Jones was told on his radio not to pass his teammate Denny Hamlin, who was in a tight battle to advance into the Championship 4. NASCAR sent out a statement on Monday evening stating that there was no foul by the No. 20 team.

“After conducting a review of the on-track competition and 20 team radio communication from Sunday’s race at Martinsville, NASCAR will not issue any penalties to the 20 team.”

NASCAR did not mention Hamlin or the No. 11 team in their statement, which seemingly means that the No. 11 was never considered for penalties.

TobyChristie.com reached out for further clarification on Hamlin as well as the Kevin Harvick last lap crash with Kyle Busch. A representative from NASCAR disclosed that Hamlin and Harvick will also not be penalized for actions in the Martinsville race.
