Sunday night’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was a good show.

Kyle Busch and Garrett Smithley had drama, as did Joey Logano and Daniel Suarez. And in the end Martin Truex Jr. worked around Kevin Harvick in the closing laps for the win.

The racing action and new Sunday night time slot were rewarded with higher television overnight ratings than in 2018.

Sunday’s race drew a 1.4 Overnight Nielsen rating, which is up eight-percent from last year’s edition of this race. That race a year ago, scored a 1.3 rating.

This race in 2018 was of course held during the day, and had to contend with multiple NFL games, whereas Sunday night’s race only had to compete against Sunday Night Football which featured the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles.
