NASCAR fans have a new Netflix series to tune into starting this week centered around the sport, and there will be a fresh reminder on-track during Sunday’s road course race at Daytona.

Spire Motorsports and Netflix will partner for the upcoming O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 at Daytona, to place NASCAR’s newest comedy series “The Crew” on the hood of Corey LaJoie’s No. 7 Camaro ZL1 1LE.

After debuting just one day after NASCAR’s Daytona 500, Netflix published “The Crew”, a NASCAR-based comedy starring Kevin James and the fictional Bobby Spencer Racing. The series has garnered praise across NASCAR’s Twitter presence since its debut on Monday. The show even features cameos from real NASCAR drivers including Cole Custer, Ryan Blaney, and Austin Dillon. The show broke into the Top-10 in nationwide streaming for the United States just one day after its release.

“We’re excited to see ‘The Crew’ on the No. 7 this weekend,” said Spire Motorsports co-owner T.J. Puchyr. “We were fortunate enough to work with Netflix last year at the Michigan double-header so we’ve been looking forward to it. Our whole organization has had a lot of fun collaborating with Netflix on this project. Seeing the show drop this week is the icing on the cake.”

After coming off a strong finish in the Daytona 500, LaJoie is looking towards the Daytona road course to continue its momentum as Spire’s first full-time driver in organization history.

“We had a great start to the season at the Daytona 500,” said LaJoie. “Obviously, you always want to be in position to race for the win but to start off the year by finishing ninth in the biggest race of the season is pretty gratifying. We’re going to do our best to build on that momentum as we get ready for the Daytona road course race. It’s going to be a lot of fun to have ‘The Crew’ on our car this weekend. Kevin James is always a lot of laughs and ‘The Crew’ is a great reminder not to take ourselves too seriously.”

This is not the first time that the show and Spire are working together for an on-track activation. During shooting for the series, Spire rebranded its No. 77 entry as the No. 74 FakeSteak Camaro, which is the sponsor and number used for the show. NASCAR allowed Netflix to film real race action for the show at the Michigan doubleheader in 2020.

Fans can see the No. 7 Camaro ZL1 1LE hit the track on Sunday, February 21 for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 at Daytona. Coverage begins at 3 PM EST on FOX and the FOX Sports App.
