We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has sent texts, called, commented and reached out. Devon is has been released from Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center with minor neck, ankle, and wrist injuries. He will be okay, doctors assured him he will make a full recovery, and this was a close call! God is good! ?????

Devon Rouse, 23, who ran one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event for Reaume Brothers Racing this season at Knoxville, has been transported to the hospital after a crash in a heat race at 34 Speedway in Iowa on Saturday night.

An update on Rouse’s condition was posted to his Facebook Page on Saturday evening. It read:

Update on Devon, he has been taken to the Southeast Iowa Medical Center and is being checked out by their staff.. he is heading in for scans and x-rays. We will release more information when we can! Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

Fellow competitor and friend to Rouse, Tyler Shoemaker stated on Twitter that the potential injuries for Rouse are in his neck and ankle as they are being evaluated with x-rays.

Rouse is NASCAR’s only openly gay driver. The Iowa-native was expected to make his Truck Series debut in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted those plans. But Rouse did make his Series debut this season at Knoxville, finishing 18th.

This story will be updated with further updates on Rouse’s condition as they become available.
