Leavine Family Racing and their No. 95 car driven by Matt DiBenedetto has been one of the more fun stories to watch in 2019. The team led the most laps before being wiped out in a huge crash in the Daytona 500 and they are working on getting more competitive in year one of a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing.

Now, it appears the team will look to expand to two cars for the 2020 season according to a report from SportsMap.com.

Leavine told the outlet, “Yes, we are working on expanding for 2020 right now,” Leavine said during a Q-and-A session. “It’s just a matter of sponsorship because we can put the people on it, and we have the organization and Toyota Racing Development will support that. So yes, we are working to expand.”

Leavine also said that the plan for 2019 was originally to run two cars as well. The plan — that ultimately fell through — was to have Daniel Suarez drive one car and a driver of the team’s choosing (probably DiBenedetto) to drive the second car.

However, that did fall through. But pending sponsorship LFR could be a two-car operation next season.
