Kyle Larson “Brakes” Through at Nashville For Third-Straight NASCAR Cup Series Points Paying Win

Screengrab from NBCSN race broadcast.

There is just no stopping Kyle Larson. I know we have said it for weeks now, but Larson utterly dominated Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway for his third-consecutive NASCAR Cup Series points paying win, and his fourth victory in a row when you factor in the All-Star race in Texas last weekend.

Larson led a race-high 264 laps in the 300 lap contest at Nashville and he also scored the Stage 2 win to bring his season total of Stage Wins to 12.

“It was a great day,” Larson explained. “We never really had to run behind people. So, I don’t know, if one of my teammates got out front again, it would have been probably hard to pass them. Valvoline Chevrolet was really good. It could cut the middle of the corner very well.”

This marks Larson’s fourth win of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season and it’s his 10th-career victory in NCS competition.

After 17 races, Larson has already set his career-high in laps led for a season with 1,426. His previous best was 1,352 back in 2017.

Ross Chastain came on strong in the closing laps to get by William Byron for second-place. This ended a streak of four-straight top-2 finishes for Hendrick Motorsports in points-paying events.

Behind Chastain and Byron were polesitter Aric Almirola in fourth and Kevin Harvick in fifth in the Grave Digger No. 4 paint scheme.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Daniel Suarez, Kurt Busch, Christopher Bell and Joey Logano rounded out the top-10 finishers in this race.

This race was a wild and unpredictable show that ended up being a war of attrition as many fell by the wayside with brake rotor issues.

Ryan Blaney, Justin Haley, David Starr, Ryan Preece, Chase Briscoe and Cole Custer all went behind the wall with exploded brake rotors. And over the waning laps of the race, many others were complaining about pending brake issues with their cars.
