Hard-nosed old school racer Josh Williams has already been opening eyes over the last few seasons in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, but in 2020 he has been down-right impressive. His recent stretch of overly impressive finishes has led the driver of the No. 92 DGM Racing Chevrolet to land some pretty big sponsorship for this weekend’s Unhinged 300 at Talladega Superspeedway.
General Formulations, a worldwide manufacturer of high-quality pressure sensitive films and DuPont Tedlar, the company’s polyvinyl flouride film for graphics will team up and adorn Williams’ vehicle in the race.
“We have been a proud wrap vinyl sponsor of Josh Williams Motorsports since 2016. Our longstanding relationship with Josh has given us an opportunity to grow our brand and align ourselves with a highly reputable driver and sport,” said Matt Edwards, Product Manager for General Formulations in a press release.
General Formulation’s vinyl wrap will be used to wrap Williams’ car this weekend.
DuPont, a company whose ties in the sport run deep, is excited to team up with the 26-year old racer.
“Tedlar, together with General Formulations, is proud to partner with Josh Williams at this weekend’s Talladega Superspeedway Xfinity Series race,” said Fallyn Flaherty-Earp, Global Marketing Manager for DuPont Advanced Materials.
The Florida-native has two top-10 finishes already this season. Williams had just one-career top-10 finish heading into the 2020 season, which came at Talladega Superspeedway a season ago. Needless to say, Williams is chomping at the bit for Saturday.
“After how we ran at Talladega last year and knowing the speed we’ve had already this season, I’m fired up to get back there this weekend and see if we can’t go a few spots better and win the race,” said Williams. “We know that the superspeedways give out team a real chance to shine and run up front, and hopefully we can take advantage of that and build on the momentum we’ve had these last few weeks.”
Obviously, if Williams can pull of the victory, he will chisel his name into Playoff contention, but even if he doesn’t capture his first-career win this weekend, Williams could bolster his Playoff aspirations.
Williams sits 14th in the overall driver standings, but is just one position from a Playoff berth as Daniel Hemric, who is in 12th, is ineligible to run for the championship.
