Joe Gibbs Racing Becomes Winningest NASCAR Team in History

As Martin Truex Jr. came through a hairpin final turn and approached the finish line at Sonoma Raceway in Sunday’s Toyota Save Mart 350, the 38-year old was making more history than just recording the 23rd victory of his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career. His victory actually made Joe Gibbs Racing the winningest team in NASCAR history.

Truex’s victory marked JGR’s 326th victory between the three National Series levels of NASCAR (Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Truck Series).

JGR has surpassed Roush Fenway Racing as the leader in the all-time wins category.

Since their inception in 1992, JGR has recorded 167 Cup Series wins and 159 Xfinity Series wins.

Not only has Gibbs taken the lead, but with 10 wins in the first 16 Cup Series races this season to go along with seven wins in the first 14 Xfinity Series races of 2019, you would expect them to pad their lead as the season marches toward Homestead.

Joe Gibbs’ race team is racking up victories the same way his Washington Redskins teams collected Super Bowl championships when he was the head coach. Gibbs just wins at anything he does.
