Inspection Complete: Yellawood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway Officially Belongs to Denny Hamlin

Post-race technical inspection following the NASCAR Cup Series’ Yellawood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway has been completed, finalizing the results from one of the most chaotic finishes in recent memory.

Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing has been declared the official winner of the event, locking the 39-year-old into the third round of the NASCAR Playoffs and earning him his seventh victory of 2020.

Sunday marks Hamlin’s 44th NASCAR Cup Series victory, officially tying him for 18th on the all-time NASCAR Cup Series win list with Bill Elliott.

There were no other issues in post-race technical inspection, meaning the finishing results have been finalized.

Since the conclusion of the event, NASCAR has announced the reversal of Chase Elliott’s penalty for passing below the yellow line, later assigning it to Chris Buescher’s Roush Fenway Racing Ford Mustang. Buescher would fall from sixth to 22nd in the final running order, while Elliott would take over the last spot inside the top-five, bumping Ryan Newman to the sixth position.
