Chase Briscoe and Daniel Hemric will have to start Sunday’s Daytona 500 from the rear of the field, NASCAR announced on Sunday morning, after both cars failed technical inspection multiple times.

Briscoe, scheduled to start from ninth, will be forced to start from the rear of the field, after failing technical inspection twice. JD Frey, the car chief for Briscoe’s No. 14 Ford Mustang, has been ejected, as a result.

Hemric, scheduled to start in 33rd, will not only have to start from the rear of the field, but will have to serve a pass-through penalty at his earliest convenience. Additionally, as a result, Hemric’s engineer, George Spencer, has been ejected.

Both drivers will join Jacques Villeneuve (motor change) and Joey Logano (backup car) as the four drivers to start at the rear of the field.
