Fords Dominate Stage 1 at Daytona, Logano Wins Stage With Last Lap Pass

Stage 1 of Sunday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway was utterly dominated by the Ford Motor Company. Aside from three laps led by Kyle Busch in his Toyota, the remainder of the 50 lap Stage were all led by blue ovals.

Joey Logano led the most laps of the stage with 36, but it looked like Kevin Harvick would win Stage 1 as he had the lead on the final lap. Then, Logano found help from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and pulled his No. 22 Ford Mustang from behind Harvick. Logano cruised to the lead for the Stage win and Playoff Point.

Stenhouse ended up second, Ryan Blaney was third, Harvick dropped to fourth and Chase Elliott finished the Stage in fifth.

Daniel Suarez, Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the top-10 and also scored Stage points.

In all, seven Fords finished inside the top-10 in Stage 1. Can Chevrolet or Toyota band together to overthrow Ford during the remainder of the race?
