After rain from tropical storm Bertha forced the postponement of the Alsco Uniforms 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the NASCAR Cup Series is set to race in Thursday — five days since Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.

The newest feud in NASCAR, Chase Elliott versus Kyle Busch, will more than likely write another chapter as the two drivers have been near the front in every Cup Series race since the return from COVID-19.

The two drivers are fresh off competing in Tuesday night’s Truck Series race, which Elliott won and Busch finished second.

William Byron will roll from the pole position by virtue of finishing 20th last Sunday. This will not count as an official Busch Pole Award for Byron.

The field was set by an inversion of the top-20 finishers from the 600-mile event on Sunday, while the 21st-40th place finishers will start from their finishing position.

The starting lineup should lend the race to being a little less predictable than the Coca-Cola 600, as that event actually had a qualifying session.

In addition, Thursday’s race will be just over half the distance of Sunday’s race at 500-kilometers, which should cause drivers to have a sense of urgency.

Now let’s get to the important stuff you need to know about Thursday’s race.
