The NASCAR Cup Series returns to the high-banked worn down Speedway in Hampton, Georgia in Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Chase Elliott will start from the pole after he drew the top spot in the random draw this week. In perfect storybook fashion, Joey Logano, who was left seething after being crashed by Elliott at Bristol last Sunday, will start right behind Elliott in third.
While Elliott and Logano either write the next chapter in their feud, or choose to steer clear of the drama, Brad Keselowski — who won Bristol last week — is seeking his third win of the 2020 season.
Keselowski has won two of the last three NASCAR Cup Series events at Atlanta, including last year.
While the starting lineup should keep the race at a level of mystery in the early portions as we have no idea who will have the fastest car at the beginning of the race, tires will play an even bigger role for the race win.
In Saturday’s NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series events, fresh tires were worth about two seconds on the time sheet.
There should be room for some incredible gains or losses based on tire wear.
Now let’s get to the important stuff you need to know about Sunday’s race.
