There are 38 cars on the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway, the 30th race of the 36-race NASCAR Cup Series season and the first of three races in the Round of 12 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.
With up to 40 cars being permitted to start races in the NASCAR Cup Series, no drivers or teams will go home following this week’s qualifying session.
Kyle Larson, who won last week’s Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol, will return this weekend as the driver of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with primary sponsorship from HendrickCars.com.
This race will mark the first race that Spire Motorsports and Rick Ware Racing will have new drivers in their No. 7 and 51 cars. Last week, the two teams announced a trade, which will see Justin Haley behind the wheel of Spire’s No. 7 car beginning this weekend and LaJoie in the No. 51 Ware entry.
Among the other notables in the field will be Kaz Grala, a NASCAR Cup Series rookie contender making his 20th start of the season, in the No. 15 Rick Ware Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Ty Dillon, who stepped away from his driving duties of the No. 25 Rackley WAR truck this week, will drive the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 this weekend.
Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will also make his seventh start of the season in the No. 84 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB “Open” entry, and he’ll be joined by JJ Yeley, the other “Open” entry driver who will pilot the No. 44 NY Racing Team Chevrolet.
