Dylan Lupton will add a pair of NASCAR Xfinity Series events to an already action-packed schedule across NASCAR’s top-three series this Fall, piloting the No. 26 Toyota Supra for Sam Hunt Racing at Kansas Speedway, as well as the season-finale at Phoenix Raceway.
“I am very thankful to add two more races with Sam Hunt Racing at Kansas and Phoenix,” Lupton said in a team release. “Even though our result in our first race together at Las Vegas wasn’t what we hoped, it was because of circumstances beyond our control.”
The 27-year-old’s original two-race deal included events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. In his first NASCAR Xfinity Series event since 2018, Lupton’s No. 26 was running lap times equal to drivers inside the top-six, when a multi-car accident on lap 31 relegated the Sam Hunt Racing entry to a poor finish.
“The Sam Hunt Racing team works hard, and they continue to bring fast race cars to the track every week,” added the former NASCAR Next alumnus. “It is our goal in our three remaining races together to go out there with a positive outlook and hope we can surprise some people with our finishes. I want nothing more than to end the season at Phoenix with a strong result and a great outlook on the 2022 season
A native of Wilton, California, Lupton has made 54 starts across NASCAR’s top-three series, including 36 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Throughout his tenure in NASCAR, Lupton has also competed in four NASCAR Cup Series and 14 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events.
The remaining races for Lupton come on tracks that are familiar through competition in NASCAR’s top-three series and the ARCA Menards Series. At Kansas, Lupton has a fourth-place finish in the ARCA Menards Series from last October and has made two national series starts at Texas, one at Kansas and three at Phoenix.
“I’m extremely excited to add two more races to Dylan’s 2021 slate with us,” said team owner Sam Hunt. “We saw a lot of promise in his short stint at Vegas before getting caught up in the big wreck, and he showed us that he is capable of driving our cars forward with no practice and little seat time.”
“We’re eager to get back to work with him and know he will get faster every lap he has. The team has some beautiful race cars prepped for the rest of the season and I have no doubts Dylan may surprise some people with his speed.”
Through 30 NASCAR Xfinity Series events this season Sam Hunt Racing is boasting a career year, collecting one top-five, two top-10, and eight top-15 finishes, with a variety of drivers.
