A relatively calm Toyota Save Mart 350 for the Cup Series on Sunday got a spike of excitement with 13 laps to go.

Heading into Turn 11,  Ross Chastain and Corey LaJoie got together, causing a pileup that resulted in William Byron, and Kevin Harvick sustaining heavy damage.

The parking lot in Turn 11 caused many drivers to take evasive maneuvers, including Chastain driving towards the inner section of the turn. NASCAR deemed no penalty was necessary after Chastain came back onto the racing surface.

Other drivers including Christopher Bell received minor damage, as well as Alex Bowman, who was forced into the wall at the exit.

Byron recorded his first DNF since Martinsville late last season. Harvick was able to continue with the damage.

The Charlotte, North Carolina driver joined fellow Chevrolet drivers Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Quin Houff in the garage.

His Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson won both stages in Sunday’s race.
