Video: Josh Berry Sends Daniel Suarez Spinning on Lap 64

Josh Berry has been on a tear in the opening laps of the NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway. After starting 30th, Berry moved into the 10th position, and was working on Daniel Suarez for the ninth spot when the two collided on Lap 64.

After Berry made contact with the rear of Suarez’s car, Suarez went for a spin. Fortunately, for Suarez, he didn’t clip the inside pit road wall, and he didn’t suffer any real damage to his car.

Berry radioed to his team that Suarez cut across his nose, and he blamed Suarez for the move. Suarez felt Berry was a little over-aggressive for it being so early in the race, and told his team that he’ll get back to Berry before the end of the race. Keep an eye out for potential retaliation as the race goes on.

The caution took us to the end of the opening Stage of the race, which was won by Kyle Larson.

Bubba Wallace, Alex Bowman, Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano, Todd Gilliland, Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain, Josh Berry, and Ryan Preece all scored Stage Points.
