During Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series practice, Darlington Raceway showed some mercy to John Hunter Nemechek.
The LEGACY MOTOR CLUB driver was able to escape a long slide through the first set of corners without any substantial damage to his No. 42 Dollar Tree Toyota Camry XSE.
Nemechek, who is running a throwback paint scheme this weekend dedicated to his father Joe Nemechek’s iconic BellSouth No. 42, had just 14 laps on his tires prior to the spin.
The Mooresville, North Carolina-native is making his sixth NASCAR Cup Series start at the 1.366-mile facility this weekend, a racetrack at which he earned a top-10 finish during his rookie campaign in 2020.
Luckily, the 27-year-old driver was able to drive away from the incident and will be able to post a lap during Satruday afternoon’s qualifying session from Darlington.
