Video: Denny Hamlin Spins From Second Place Off Turn 4 at Michigan

After a weather-delayed start to Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway, the first caution of the race came on Lap 38 as polesitter Denny Hamlin went for a spin on the exit of Turn 4 while running in the runner-up position.

Hamlin had a massive run on Bubba Wallace, the race leader, but as he drifted higher on the track, it appeared he lost the air from the nose of his race car in Wallace’s wake. Hamlin lost control, and spun to the inside of the track.

The No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry XSE would avoid contact with the wall and other drivers, but he would go on an excursion through the infield grass. To be determined if the grass trip tore up any underbody aerodynamic components on Hamlin’s car, but the driver will attempt to rally from 19th spot.
