Daniel Dye, who recently resigned from his driving duties at Kaulig Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, is set to resume his racing career this week. Dye, 22, will compete in the ARCA Menards Series Tide 150 at Kansas Speedway on Saturday, April 18.
According to an entry list revealed by ARCA on Tuesday afternoon, Dye will slide behind the wheel of the No. 24 Sigma Performance Services Chevrolet with primary sponsorship from Champion Container Corporation.
Dye, who was set for a full-time run with Ram Trucks in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season, saw his bid come to an end after he went on a homophobic rant during a trading card break stream on Whatnot. Dye’s rant was aimed at NTT IndyCar Driver David Malukas.
Kaulig Racing suspended Dye, and Dye was subsequently suspended by NASCAR and mandated to undergo sensitivity training before he could return. Dye completed the sensitivity training and was reinstated by NASCAR, but he then resigned from Kaulig Racing that same day.
In a statement, Dye explained that the step back from Kaulig Racing would allow him to realign his focus on his long-term goal in auto racing.
“After a lot of honest self-reflection and guidance from mentors I trust, I’ve decided the smartest move for my career is to realign my focus on my long-term objective of becoming a successful driver at the highest level of stock car racing,” Dye said in his statement.
Corey LaJoie has taken over as the driver of the No. 10 Ram 1500 that Dye had been piloting this season.
Dye, a native of DeLand, Florida, has one win in 27 career ARCA Menards Series starts, and he has accumulated 17 top-five finishes and 22 top-10s over that stretch of races. He’ll look to add to those statistics this weekend at the 1.5-mile oval in Kansas City.
