Christopher Bell was battling for the lead of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Michigan when he crashed hard in turn one, heavily damaging the No. 20 Toyota Camry TRD. Bell was able to continue in the race, but off the pace.

It’s been an afternoon full of incidents at Michigan International Speedway, the latest of which was polesitter Christopher Bell, who crashed 66 laps into Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400.

Unique to the other incidents on the afternoon, Bell, driving the No. 20 Toyota Camry TRD, was battling for the lead with Alex Bowman, and had gotten mostly clear, when his Joe Gibbs Racing entry snapped around, smacking the outside wall in Turn 1.

Despite spinning in front of the entire field, Bell was able to keep his incident as a single-car crash, sliding to the outside wall and staying there, without collecting anybody else in the process.

However, unlike the other four drivers involved in various incidents this afternoon, Bell was able to continue on in the event, despite the damage to his No. 20 Toyota Camry.
