It only took a small handful of laps in Sunday’s Jockey 250 at Road America for the first caution in the Cup Series’ return to the iconic road course.

It was Lap 3 when Trackhouse’s Daniel Suarez exited turn 5 and failed to get his No. 99 Camaro in gear. Suarez rolled to the top of the hill entering turn 6, and came to a stop.

The Monterrey, Mexico driver was racing in the top ten at the time of the malfunction.

The former Xfinity Series champion radioed to his team that something in the transmission was amiss, and requested a push back to the garage area. The team went behind the wall in an attempt to diagnose, and fix the issue.

After making repairs to the car, Suarez and the No. 99 team returned to the track on lap 13, 10 laps off the pace.

Many eyes were on Trackhouse entering the weekend following this week’s bombshell announcement of the organization’s acquisition of Chip Ganassi Racing’s NASCAR operation for 2022.
