NASCAR Cup Series championship-winning team owner Tony Stewart, and his wife Leah Pruett, have welcomed their first child into the world, a son named Dominic James Stewart.

The couple shared the news via social media on Sunday, with a post on the Tony Stewart Racing Nitro account that reads: “Meet our new teammate, Dominic James Stewart. Momma [Leah Pruett] and baby are doing great. Congratulations LP and [Tony Stewart] on becoming new parents. Only Tony could pull off qualifying, rising to Phoenix to make it in time for the delivery, and then back to [Pomona Dragstrip] for race day.”

Following the birth of his son, Stewart returned to the Pomona Dragstrip to compete on Sunday and was eliminated by Doug Kalitta in the semi-final round. Stewart finished 10th in the 2024 NHRA Top Fuel Championship.

Stewart is a three-time champion of the NASCAR Cup Series and has spent the last decade and a half on the NASCAR circuit as the co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing.

Last December, Pruett announced that she would be stepping away from full-time competition in the NHRA, as she and Stewart looked to start a family. That paved the way for the 53-year-old former NASCAR driver to get behind the wheel of a Top Fuel entry full-time in 2024.

The 53-year-old driver announced his engagement to Pruett in March 2021, before the couple were married in November 2021.
