Sheldon Creed Making NASCAR Cup Series Debut at Kansas for Live Fast Motorsports

NASCAR Xfinity Series full-timer Sheldon Creed is set to take the next step on his journey to the pinnacle of NASCAR, with the announcement Wednesday that he’ll join Live Fast Motorsports for his NASCAR Cup Series debut at Kansas Speedway in September.

The 25-year-old driver, who currently pilots the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro in the second-tier series for Richard Childress Racing, will bring Xfinity Series anchor partner, Whelen Engineering with him for the effort, where they’ll adorn the No. 78 Chevrolet Camaro.

“I’m excited to race a Cup [Series] race for the first time, as that’s been the dream for a long-time,” said Creed. “Whelen is a great company and I’m appreciative for their support in allowing us to do this with Live Fast Motorsports. We hope to have a good day at Kansas Speedway come September.”

Founded in 1952 by George W. Whelen, in his garage in Deep River, Connecticut, Whelen now encompasses two state-of-the-art facilities in Connecticut and New Hampshire with over 1,000,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

Creed’s journey to get to the NASCAR Cup Series has been an unorthodox one, starting out in Stadium Super Trucks, before progressing into TransAm, then ARCA, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and now, the NASCAR Xfinity Series, where he competes full-time.

Since joining Richard Childress Racing at the start of 2022, Creed has accumulated six top-five results in the second-tier series, including three separate third-place finishes at Darlington, Martinsville, and most recently Talladega.
