The No. 78 Motorsport Games Mustang for LiveFast Motorsports (PC : LiveFast)

LiveFast Motorsports will bring a new driver and a new No. 78 Mustang design when the team attacks the Daytona road course this weekend.

Road-course ringer Scott Heckert will take the wheel of the No. 78 LiveFast Motorsports Mustang for the upcoming O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 at Daytona this weekend, marking the first driver change for the team this season.

“We are so excited to have Scott driving for us at the Daytona Road Course,” said co-owner BJ McLeod. “He’s an absolute wheel-man on road courses, and his stats show just that.”

The team will swap out the NASCAR HEAT 5 paint scheme from the Daytona 500 with an aggressive, Motorsport Games design. Motorsports Games became the publisher of the NASCAR HEAT videogame series in 2020, with the release of NASCAR HEAT 5 for Xbox, Playstation, and PC.

Heckert has participated in NASCAR events before, just not on a Cup Series level. He has made multiple starts at road courses in the Xfinity Series including Road America and Watkins Glen. He also participated in the Daytona road course race in 2020 with BJ McLeod Motorsports, finishing 19th. Heckert originally started as a driver for McLeod’s late-model development program.

“This is a special moment for me and it’s even better that I get to drive for two of my close friends,” said Scott Heckert. “It’s been great getting to witness BJ and Matt build this new (NCS) team and I’m honored to represent them at their first road course race.”

Fans can see Heckert and the No. 78 Motorsport Games Mustang hit the track on Sunday, February 21st at 3 PM EST on FOX and the FOX Sports App.
