Rumors around the garage have been started that grocery chain Kroger was looking at cutting back their involvement with JTG Daugherty Racing for the 2020 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. A new report from Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern states that team owner Tad Geschickter fully expects the company back on his race cars in 2020.

JTG Daugherty Racing currently fields cars for Chris Buescher and Rookie of the Year candidate Ryan Preece.

Buescher has impressed as he has already tied his career-high for top-10s in a single season (four) with 15 races left in the season. Buescher sits 21st in the championship standings, up from 24th a season ago.

Preece started off the year with a bang, as he finished eighth in the season-opening Daytona 500. However, the rookie has slumped a bit since. After four DNFs by way of crashing and another for a suspension failure, Preece sits 26th in the standings.

In the report, Geschickter did not confirm who would be driving for the team in 2020.
