Martin Truex Jr., who starts from the ninth position, and Kyle Busch, who will roll from 20th spot, Sunday at Watkins Glen International, will have a little bit of adversity to overcome within their pit crew.

Truex’s front tire changer Hunter Masling and Busch’s fueler Matthew Tyrrell will both be sidelined in the GoBowling at the Glen due to COVID protocols. Each team member will be sidelined due to close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

JTG Daugherty Racing’s Bryan Backus will fill in for Masling and JTG’s Joshua Pech will fill in for Tyrrell.

COVID, which has been a relative no issue for NASCAR in 2021, has started to creep it’s nasty head into things this week.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Chase Purdy tested positive for COVID-19 this week and missed the truck series race with mild symptoms.
