As expected, NASCAR has officially suspended Johnny Klausmeier, the crew chief of the NASCAR Cup Series No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Mustang, which is driven by rookie contender Chase Briscoe. Klausmeier’s suspension for this weekend’s Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway stems from the No. 14 car having two unsecured lug nuts in post-race inspection following last weekend’s race at Road America.

The official sections of the rule book that were broken by Klausmeier and the No. 14 team were sections 10.9.10.4: Tires and Wheels.

In addition to the suspension, Klausmeier has been fined $20,000 for the infraction.

Despite the penalty, Briscoe and Klausmeier still combined to tie the rookie driver’s career-best-career NASCAR Cup Series finish of sixth this past weekend.

Briscoe sits 23rd in the championship standings heading into Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Michael Cook, an engineer for the No. 14 team, will move into the role of Crew Chief this weekend according to the NASCAR Team Roster portal.

No other penalties were dished out on Tuesday from NASCAR following the race weekend at Road America.
