Chase Elliott was named the NMPA (National Motorsports Press Association) Most Popular Driver in the NASCAR Cup Series for the fourth consecutive year during Thursday’s NASCAR Cup Series Awards Banquet in Nashville.

In taking home his fourth-consecutive NASCAR Cup Series Most Popular Driver Award, Elliott becomes just the fifth driver in NASCAR Cup Series history to win the award in four consecutive years as he joins Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Bill Elliott and Richard Petty.

The 26-year old, who came into the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season as the defending champion, put in another good effort as he scored two race wins and wound up inside the Championship 4 once again at Phoenix Raceway.

Elliott ultimately finished fourth in the Championship Standings, but he scored points within his own fan base in standing up for himself in altercations throughout the Playoffs with Kevin Harvick.

The Most Popular Driver Award is special to NASCAR drivers as it is the only award that is voted on by the fans of the sport.

Elliott, a native of Dawsonville, Georgia, carries on a racing legacy, which was started by his father and NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott.

Chase Elliott’s dad scored 16 Most Popular Driver Awards during his illustrious career. Now, the younger Elliott has brought the family total to 20 MPD Awards.

In addition to Elliott, Justin Allgaier was named the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series Most Popular Driver and Hailie Deegan was awarded as Most Popular Driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for 2021.
