Austin Dillon Wins Stage 2 of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona

Stage 2 of Sunday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway was the complete opposite of Stage 1.

Ford led all but three laps in Stage 1 as Joey Logano took the Playoff Point for winning that Stage. In Stage 2, it was Chevrolet that flexed it’s muscle. Austin Dillon led 39 of the 50 laps in Stage 2 and was able to hold off a furious late-Stage charge from the for camp on the outside lane to win the Stage.

Alex Bowman, who won last week’s race, finished the Stage in second and he was followed by his Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron and Chase Ellliott. Clint Bowyer rounded out the top-five in Stage 2.

Kyle Larson, Jimmie Johnson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Bubba Wallace and Joey Logano also score Stage Points in Stage 2.

Stenhouse led two laps in the Stage, but had to rebound from a spin when he was tapped by Kurt Busch early in the Stage. Busch would later find trouble himself as he slapped the wall and then made contact with Brendan Gaughan.

The big moment of the Stage was a five-car pileup including Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick, David Ragan, Daniel Suarez and Daniel Hemric.

In all, seven Chevrolet teams finished inside the top-10 in Stage 2.
